Politicians in Canada...
Ever since the wonderful American Digital Revolution in tvland, I have been watching CBC during my lunch breaks. I am going to be getting a converter box asap, because I don't think I can take much more of this.
On to my main point.. How do you feel about politicians speaking in French when they are talking to Canada entirely?? Personally I think it is stupid... they have a translator who is translating in English but they do not translate the question.... then sometimes the translator can barely be heard over the politician. I know French is a language of our wonderful country but when over 50% speak English, speak English, imo. I think it would be like Obama going up and speaking Spanish to the entire country. It just doesn't make sense to me.
Hope I didn't piss anyone off. A guy that I work with, loves to argue, and when I asked him about this he was trying to turn it into a fight. I don't want that, just curious if I am alone here.

Post a CommentI agree with you. The whole French English issue pisses me off. I understand that both are "official languages" of our country, so all signs and products have to have both on them. But then why does Quebec get to say No English signs?! Its bullshit.
I know very few people outside Quebec that speak french.
I think French should be removed as an official language of Canada and applied only to Quebec. That would make them even more distinct!
Weird that alot of our PMs are from Quebec though eh?

Exactly!! Quebec cannot have it both ways, I am sorry. I work for a VERY international company and when we are on calls (the majority being Americans) the ppl in Quebec start talking French... like someone in Texas is going to talk French back!
I don't think I know anyone who can really speak French fluently. I can speak it but only what I was taught in school.
It is weird that our PMs are from Quebec. lol
Alot of them are, lol, but Dion was a classic example what problems the language barrier can cause!
